多摩川流域での所在調査の主なものは①歴史的に価値あるものとしては、奥多摩町日原倉沢神社跡、奥多摩川野の吉野家跡、青梅市二俣尾の海禅寺、青梅市大柳の荒井家、羽村市羽東先の羽村堰、青梅市官の平の石灰工場跡ほか。②景観上すぐれたものとしては、奥多摩町日原の東日原付近、青梅市吹上の切り通し、福生市福生の玉川上水田村分水付近ほか。③規模が多きいものとしては、青梅市二俣尾の青梅街道の青渭通り入り付近、青梅市河辺の段丘崖、羽村市東先の玉川上水取入れ口ほか。④平成時代に積まれものとしては、青梅市の梅郷、黒沢川、羽村市の間坂の石垣などがある。 以上の石垣のうち、④は、多摩川の石、砂利採取禁止のため、多摩川の石を用いていないと思われるが、地形や景観に配慮して意図的に石垣を採用したことを評価した。 Stone walls in the Tama River basin were investigated focusing on the following points: (A) historically valuable stone walls: remains of Kurasawa Shrine in the Nippara District of Okutama Town, remains of Yoshino’s House in Kawano District of Okutama Town, Kaizen Temple in Futamatao District of Ome City, Arai’s house in Oyanagi District of Ome City, Hamura Weir near Hanehigashi District of Hamura City, and remains of a lime plant in Miyanohira District of Ome City; (B) visually significant stone walls: Higashi Nippara areas of Nippara District of Okutama Town, a cutting (narrow path in a mountainous area) in Fukiage District of Ome City, and Tamura Branch Canal of Tamagawa Josui Canal System in the Fussa District of Fussa City; (C) large-scale stone walls: around the entrance to Aoi Street from Ome Street in Futamatao District of Ome City, terrace cliffs around rivers in Ome City, and a water intake for Tamagawa Josui Canal in near Hanehigashi District of Hamura City; and (D) stone walls constructed in the Heian period (794-1192): stone walls in Baigo District and around the Kurosawa River in Ome City , and in Masaka District in Hamura City It is believed that stones collected in the Tama River were not used for the construction of stone walls mentioned in (D), because collection of stones/gravels from the River was prohibited. However, since they were constructed in consideration of the topography and scenery of the surrounding area, we investigated these stone walls, also. |
