Protection and proliferation of dragonflies by utilizing plastic spawning attracting containers
|Affiliation||Specified non-profit corporation Yokosawairi Satoyama Management Citizens' Council|
A plastic spawning attracting container was installed in a wetland that tends to dry, and the species and number of dragonfly larvae that spawn and inhabit in the container were recorded. In addition, the species and number of dragonflies that emerged from the container the following year were recorded. As a result, we succeeded in breeding the endangered Libellula quadrimaculata asahinai Schmidt in Tokyo. However, it was also found that the installation of plastic spawning attracting containers is not effective in protecting all dragonflies.
