Summary

Recently, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism (MLIT) in Japan has commenced several projects that focus on watershed-based management and environmental education for children. Nevertheless, efforts to create Watershed-Scale Partnerships have faced difficulties in its sustainability and development. In this study, focusing on the water cycle and children's play, first clarifies how the nature of Tama River is connected to each local community by using Participatory Action Research Methodology. Then, while creating opportunities to identify the value created from these connections with the actors involved, we will discuss the nature of watershed partnerships.

As a result of the research, we observed changes in activities on the river and community connection due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. For contributing to promote river basin partnerships, not just to publish the result, we held an online symposium to share the landscapes of the Tama River and to confirm the value of the river and their activities.
