Summary

We surveyed remnants of Tamagawa waterway network together with citizen group named “Tamagawa Josui net” which is one of the registered organization of herirage fo the future, National Federation of UNESCO Association in JAPAN and dititalized some of them. We also analyzed the transformation process of Tamagawa waterway network and modern water supply system using photos in geographies and textbooks.

We showed that Tamagawa waterways had played a role on making healthy water use and hydrologic cycle system. In addition, we pointed out the necessity to rebuild stable water use system of Tamagawa waterway network and management system based on this network.

To put this idea into concrete shape, we proposed to flow Tama river water to outer moat and Nihonbashi river through Tamagawa waterway for new water use system and stable management system collaborated with an executive committee on hydrologic cycle Tokyo symposium (five Universities located in city center of Tokyo) which is working on outer moat and Nihonbashi river.
